Alanna Renee - Golden Snitch, Drink of Despair & Horcrux

Sorry for the lac of post ladies, I had a little mini bloggers breakdown. I found myself overwhelmed with everything I needed to get done and had no motivation to do any of it. So I took a few days off and treated myself to no blogging action, it was hard not to check my stats. But I did treat myself to some much needed time with friends, laughs, food and shopping. I'm now back and I feel energized, prepare to see a fairly full on week for Nail Gun XS the blog and for Arcane the polish.

Enough sob sob, poor me, woe is me, let's get on with the polish.
Alanee Renee recently sent me a few polishes to review, I of course jumped at the chance as their polish has been on my hit list for a while. The three I have picked come from the new Magical World Collection.

First up is Drink of Despair, it's no surprise I picked this one as my recent green kick as been driving my polish choices as well as my shopping purchases. This one is LOADED with green hexes n a few different sizes but all the same shade, if you wanted to you really don't need a base colour. But I chose to use Ulta3 Lucky Bamboo to offset the glitter and help it pop on the nail rather than loose the glitter detail by layering it on it's own. So that's 2 coats of Lucky Bamboo and 1 coat of Drink Of Despair.

Next is Golden Snitch which is a hell of a lot prettier in real life and it's polishes like these that really need the natural light of outdoor photos, but as that isn't an option for me right now I had to make do with the lightbox. So I played around no light and just flash, flash and light, no flash with just light. I would ideally like to re-swatch this during better weather conditions.
2 coats, no undies needed, isn't it pretty?!?

Lastly we have Horcrux which is my favourite from this bunch, with a dark black jelly base with blue and what looks to be purple micro flakies, this one dried a lot quicker than the others; I put this down to the density of the polish. I really adore this, it looks like an opal. I know nothing about the Harry Potter movies so I dunno what all these names represent, sorry :( Can anyone enlighten me?

You can pick yourself up some Alanna Renee polishes here.

Thanks

Flakie Friday - Essence Night In Vegas

I did this mani while on holidays in March and I haven't had the opportunity to post them here as yet. So no time like the present. The base colour is China Glaze Fade Into Hue from the Avante Garden Collection released for spring, I received a few from this collection in a Easter Swap, since then I've acquired the rest of the Collection and will eventually get around to using them. I figure I'll leave the big commercial brands swatching to the bloggers that do it best. I seem to have made a name for myself with Aussie Indies, so I'll stick to that.

The flakie I'm using this Friday is Essence Special Effect Topper Night In Vegas which eerily close to Essie Shine of The Times, the only real differences is SOTT has far more flakies in the bottle so you get a much denser coverage in one coat. My photo's show two coats of Night In Vegas over 2 coats of Fade Into Hue.

Fade Into Hue which I keep wanting to call fade into THE hue is a lovely lavender shade with ok formula, I'm not going to stay it's fantastic, but it's also not the worst Ive come across.

All my photo's are on quite an angle as this is where I picked up the shift of colours best. dark orange, to lighter orange to gold to green. Very Pretty!

Ozotic 746

Now I'll be honest I'm not usually a pink fan, I buy then use them once or twice then never bother with them again unless it's for nail art. So wasn't really that excited when I received this one, but I was pleasantly surprised when I started to swatch it.

But now as I write this I finally googled some swatches and realise that this is really a layering polish. Now I feel a little silly that I haven't swatched it properly. But I will proceed as I know a lot you appreciate seeing the 'fails' as well, overall I'm still really happy with these swatches.

The blue shimmer that mimics a duochrome effect is just stunning in this pink polish and is well worth wearing this polish on it's own. Although I am also keen to layer this over black at a later date.

Ozotic can be purchased through Picture Polish.

Picture Polish ship internationally or you can pick them up through the Picture Polish Network
Ozotic Beam 908 is priced at $12 AUD

You can stay up to date with all the Picture Polish and Ozotic news through:

Final Arcane Polishes Revealed

I've got the last three to show you, I'll be doing actual swatches of these this weekend. So prepare yourself kiddies :)

First up is Busy Body which on the nail is less jelly like and more opaque but the lighting in my lightbox isn't 100% so it came off as a little transparent. It's a dark teal crelly base with  a mix of turquoise, purple and black hexes in a variety of sizes. Then there is also some purple shreds which is just the right amount.

Erudite Charm is one of my favourites blurple crème with a magenta shimmer. Erudite Charm has periwinkle hexes, micro fine gold, bronze and copper hexes, then just a little touch of black hexes.

The last one if Forget Me Not which is a light grey crème base along with a blue to magenta shifting shimmer. Then there is a very subtle mix of lavender glitters and flakies. Forget Me Not is a very soft subtle shimmery polish.

So there you have it, the final second set. I will do a summary post prior to the announcement of the next release. There will be a few changes to how I ran the last release so please make sure you read everything carefully.

Also stay tuned next week as I will have all the official swatches for this set.

Thanks

Emily de Molly - Holographics

When I received these in the mail the other week I was blown away by the intensity of the holo, I was even more impressed by them when I swatched them. Emily de Molly really have knocked the ball out of the ballpark with this lot and I've only got 4 out the 11 she has available. They really are worth checking out!

First up is High Distinction is a gold liner holo, two coats to be opaque. You could probably get away with one thick coat. Of course it's winter in Australia at the moment and the true Melbourne weather is living up to it's name, meaning the sun is virtually non existent so indoor flash photo's are what your getting.

Indigo Flow is this gem, it cane be harder to get a strong holo in the darker colours so Emily de Molly has done it, the holo is very strong and the vibrant blue base is stunning.

Inevitable is a silver linear holo, this one is a little sheerer, I used 3 thin coats here but you could do 2 normal coats and be fine. another stunning polish!

Amazonia is the last one I have to show you, a turquoise linear holo. 2 coats of perfection. I love this one, well I love them all but I adore the colour of this one.

You can purchase these polishes as more through the Etsy store.
